On Wednesday August 16th, the Lantern Club team proudly accepted the award for Outstanding Specialised Business at the Canterbury Bankstown Local Business Awards Gala Presentation evening held at Revesby Workers Club.

This wouldn’t have been possible without first receiving a nomination which came as a result of submissions by our beloved members both online and mail. After being nominated, the judging was then based on the numerous votes that were put together (30% of the scoring) combined with the results from mystery visits to Lantern Club by anonymous judges (70% of the scoring). This award, we believe, is a result of the great customer service provided by the Lantern Club team. As customer service is what we pride ourselves on, to be recognised with this award is a proud achievement for our young club.
Lantern Club General Manager Debbie Waicokacola said after receiving the local business award: “On behalf of the Lantern Club team, thank you to all our wonderful members for your on-going support. Thank you to the local schools, sporting and community groups who have partnered with us since we opened nearly five years ago. We are privileged to be a part of this community.
“We don’t do what we do for the accolades, but it is rewarding to be recognised for delivering on our promise to our members and our community. I am so proud right now!

“Our vision is to make a ‘significant contribution to the quality of community life’. Each year, Lantern Club hosts a Community Presentation Evening where we recognise local community groups, schools and sporting organisations and provide funding to them for various activities. In 2017, we presented 18 cheques totalling $118,350.
“Lantern Club turns PINK for the month of October and all of the local schools, businesses and sporting groups we are associated with get on board to help raise funds. In the last two years we have handed BreastScreen NSW cheques totalling over $180,000.
“Lantern Club goes above and beyond in all that we do – from great customer service, product offering, community projects and a fun and engaged team, winning numerous awards and accolades. We strive to make our venue a ‘home away from home’ and as such are a stand out in the Canterbury area. It is our passion to make every customer feel valued and welcomed.”
