Valentine’s Day, the time of the year dedicated to expressing our love for the special people in our lives, will be celebrated with customary style and class at Lantern Club in Roselands. In addition to a menu expertly created and prepared by our incredible chefs at MàZi Restaurant, a four-course menu (to share) will be available to perfectly set the mood, including a selection of the following:
- Cold seafood platter
- Chefs charcuterie board
- Housemade gnocchi
- Lobster tail
- Braised whole duck
- Crème brûlée
- Trifle
Our knowledgeable and friendly staff will be on hand to help you pair any of the above with just the right beverage from among our extensive selection of fine wines, champagne, beer and spirits.
For those fortunate to book quickly enough, MàZi Alfresco will be set up offering the ultimate in romantic settings. Just a handful of tables will be available featuring romantic lighting and Valentine’s Day theming. Nothing says ‘I love you’ quite like incredible food served in the perfect ambience with a special someone.
The history of Valentine’s Day can be traced back to the Roman fertility festival of Lupercalia. A lottery would take place where a young man would draw the name of young woman and keep her as a companion for the following year.
Another popular theory about the origin of Valentine’s Day dates back to the third century AD where Emperor Claudius II insisted that men not get married during wartime. Bishop Valentine didn’t agree with the Emperor and performed weddings in secret. Valentine was caught and jailed but while incarcerated he wrote to the jailor’s daughter, signing his letters ‘from your Valentine’.
Fortunately for you, celebrating your love for someone doesn’t have to be a game of chance or anywhere near as dangerous as defying your Emperor.
