Spring is upon us and we’ve found some amazing festivals and activities for you to do right across western Sydney this October.
Spring is a wonderful time of year in western Sydney. Flowers are blooming and the sun and air starts to feel warmer. If you’ve been hibernating all winter and keen to get out and about to celebrate the end of winter, we’ve found some awesome festivals and events to visit right across western Sydney.

LEURA GARDENS FESTIVAL

When: October long weekend and the following weekend (October 5-7)

These gardens in the cosy little Blue Mountains town of Leura are famous for magnificent displays of your favourite flora such as azaleas, rhododendrons, dogwoods, camellias and other cool climate exotics, as well as flowering annuals, perennials and bulbs. Spring time sees a lot of colourful flowers at their vibrant best and this event attracts visitors from all parts of Australia and overseas.
This year there are 10 open gardens and each garden has its own distinctive character.
 

NORTON STREET ITALIAN FESTA 2018

Love a pizza or pasta? Or how about some sweet stuffed cannoli? Well you’ll love the Norton Street Italian Festa, an annual event celebrating Italian culture.
Festa is a wonderful celebration of Italian culture and up to 100,000 people attend each year.
Festa is free and features cooking demonstrations, carnival rides, jumping castles, animal farms, face painting and puppet shows for the kids, organic markets, entertainment, concerts, dancing and free cooking demonstrations by the best Italian professional chefs as well as the best local Italian Nonnas!

AUSSIE NIGHT MARKETS MENANGLE

For a bit of family-friendly Saturday night fun, the Aussie Night Markets at Menangle Paceway offer an international food market teaming with over 40 international street food vendors, a dessert section, high quality art and craft, kiddie rides and entertainment.

MACARTHUR NIGHT MARKETS – FRIDAY FOODIE FEAST

Here’s something for the food-lovers of Sydney’s west. At the Macarthur Night Markets there’s a range of culinary delights in the heart of Campbelltown as the city transforms into a food lover’s paradise.
You’ll find pop-up food markets featuring food trucks, international cuisine, desserts, live entertainment, spectacular lighting and more.

MULGOA COUNTRY MARKET

Mulgoa isn’t too far from Penrith in Sydney’s west but it sure has the heart of a sleepy country town. It’s the perfect spot for Sydneysiders to get a monthly taste of country life.
At the Mulgoa Country Market there are 65 stalls for you to look through whilst listening to authentic country music. You can grab a spot on a picnic rug and have a bite for breakfast, lunch or brunch from some of the best event food providers around including American barbecue, gozleme, dessert choices and more.
There’s also free craft activities for the kids each month.

OZTOBERFEST (German beer and food)

German people love a good time with plenty of beer and lots of meat, so you could say they’re not so different to us Australians! Germany’s famous Oktoberfest is known world over and you can celebrate it right here in western Sydney at Oztoberfest. There’s traditional German food, souvenirs and entertainment and of course beer!

BLACKTOWN MARKETS

The Blacktown drive in cinema is more than just a place to park the car to watch a flick, it’s a traditional place for markets every weekend as well. An eclectic mix of old and new food and entertainment, collectables, vintage and all kinds of pre-loved items all in one place. Blacktown Markets is also home to one of the largest continuous garage sales in Sydney.

What better place to celebrate the western Sydney life than The Westies Markets in Emu Plains? Another one for the lover of food and beverages of great variety, Parramatta Lanes is as central western Sydney as it can get. An eclectic mix of gourmet food, world music, live performances, cutting edge art and engaging talks will bring to life hidden spaces in Parramatta as part of the popular Parramatta Lanes food and cultural festival.
Presented as part of Good Food Month, the festival offers gourmet street food, pop up bars, live music, art and performances each evening within eight uniquely themed spaces throughout the city.
