We’re inviting local women to take a positive step for their wellbeing this July – with BreastScreen NSW bringing its mobile screening van to Lantern Club for a limited time from Saturday 4 July through to Thursday 30 July. The clinic will be offering free mammograms for women aged 40 to 74, with appointments held in a private and supportive setting – making this an incredibly convenient way to prioritise health close to home.

For many people, attending a screening can feel like something to put off. That’s why we’re encouraging women to make it a more relaxed and social experience – whether that means booking together with family and friends, or enjoying a coffee at the club before or after your appointment. Coming along with someone you trust can make the experience feel easier and more comfortable.

Breast screening plays an important role in detecting changes early, often before symptoms appear. When found early, treatment options are generally more straightforward – and outcomes are often more positive. Taking the time for regular screening is one of the simplest ways women can look after their long-term health, especially for those who spend much of their time caring for others.

At Lantern Club, we proudly support women from all cultural backgrounds – including those from Arabic, Greek, Vietnamese and other diverse communities. BreastScreen NSW aims to make the process as welcoming and accessible as possible, with support available to help these women feel informed and comfortable when attending their appointment. Everyone is encouraged to come along in a way that feels right for them.

This initiative builds on a long-standing relationship between Lantern Club and BreastScreen NSW, originally supported by ClubGRANTS funding nearly a decade ago. Since then, the program has continued to support local women with accessible, community-based care.

Appointments are free, quick, and designed with privacy in mind. If you’re aged 40 – 74, this is a great opportunity to schedule your screening at a time that suits you.
