Lantern Club’s vision is to make a significant contribution to the quality of community life. Our organisation prides itself on the work we do to support community groups, welfare organisations, education and sporting groups. Over the last year Mingara Leisure Group (Lantern Club’s parent organisation) contributed over $1.6 million to the community.

Individually, Lantern Club contributes to our local community based on our legal obligations via the ClubGrants Scheme and, more often than not, contributions are made above and beyond our legal obligations. It’s important to acknowledge the depth of relationships that are formed locally between our club and various community and sporting groups within the Canterbury area. Our team puts in a great deal of effort into researching and understanding local social issues to ensure our community support and financial contributions truly make a difference.

The Club GRANTS Scheme

The ClubGRANTS Scheme sees registered clubs, like Lantern Club, providing funding and creating partnerships with local organisations to deliver projects that will be of benefit to the community. Each year Lantern Club invites organisations from your community, such as sporting groups, welfare groups and education groups from the local area to apply for funding via the ClubGRANTS Scheme.

The ClubGRANTS Scheme itself has set criteria and guidelines that we adhere to and funding allocations are divided between two categories:

Category 1: Supports community welfare and social services; community development; employment assistance activities; community health services; and projects aimed at improving the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people.

Category 2: Provides funding for general community development and support activities, such as junior sport.

Last year, registered clubs in NSW allocated more than $92 million to deserving causes through the ClubGRANTS program.
